Service Description

Training Around Livestock – Confidence and Calmness in Rural Settings Living in or visiting the Scottish Borders and Northumberland means encountering livestock is part of everyday life. This session is designed to help you and your dog calmly and safely experience the presence of sheep, goats, and chickens in a controlled environment. This is a valuable learning experience to support your dog in becoming more neutral around livestock — reducing excitement, curiosity, or mild reactivity. However, this is not a rehabilitation session for dogs with a history of livestock chasing or aggression, and attendance does not mean your dog is safe to be off-lead around livestock or wildlife. We'll also cover the legal responsibilities of dog owners when walking near livestock and the essentials of the Countryside Code, so you can be confident in your responsibilities and choices when out and about. Ideal for: Young or inexperienced dogs Dogs needing calm exposure to livestock Owners wanting to improve rural manners and understanding Important: Dogs must remain on lead throughout the session. Reactive or aggressive dogs should not attend this session — please contact us for more suitable training options if needed.
